Its spirited and imaginative score brings to life an old South Bohemian legend about a devil\u2019s stone wall, using colors far more modern than one might expect in 1882. The libretto by Eli\u0161ka Kr\u00e1snohorsk\u00e1 shifts naturally between reality and the realm of imagination. The production by the Jan\u00e1\u010dek Opera of the National Theatre Brno, directed by Ji\u0159\u00ed He\u0159man, builds on a powerful mythical atmosphere.
