Drawing on jazz, rock, and soul, the band has shaped its own unmistakable sound, recognizable from the very first notes – with thoughtful lyrics, rhythmic twists, and ample space for improvisation. Joining them for the evening will be the Slovak duo Lash & Grey. The castle riding hall will witness a meeting of two generations sharing passion for jazz and improvisation.

]]> Sonic Meditation is a concert concept by organist and composer Katta, that unites the sound of the “king of instruments” with contemplative reflection and the ambient aesthetic of the Piarist Church of the Discovery of the Holy Cross in Litomyšl. Katta’s original music, in collaboration with the vocal ensemble Societas Incognitorum and musician Stanislav Abrahám, who plays gongs and meditative instruments, offers listeners an unusual, almost magical late-night concert experience.

Librettist and dramaturge Helena Koblischková and composer Jan Jirásek draw on Baroque motifs while translating them into a contemporary stage language in which music and stage action engage in a constant dialogue. Director Petr Hašek, long-time artistic director of Geisslers Hofcomoedianten, and conductor Marek Štryncl, founder of Musica Florea, build on their extensive experience in historically informed performance and Baroque gesture. Their collaboration gives rise to playful “New Baroque” in which light, music, and acting create a cohesive stage form.

]]> Music, movement, the seasons, and humanity – four elements, four moods, four colors forming a single whole. This new project of the MenART Academy has been created for the Smetana Litomyšl Festival as a tribute to nature, the cycle of life, and the order that transcends us. The audience becomes part of the action – each spectator enters the realm of one of the four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The scholarship program of the MenART Academy has long supported gifted students of Czech elementary art schools and their teachers, providing a space for meeting and sharing experience. Together with their mentors Jan Ostrý, Jan Fišer, Irvin Venyš, Beata Hlavenková, and Jan Kodet, they will present the results of their joint work while gaining new experience on the festival stage.

]]> Bedřich Smetana’s My Country is a magical piece of music. Many of us are deeply touched with its beauty and may even feel a sense of national pride when we hear the first notes. Don’t you recognize Vltava? For a native of this country, that is impossible. You may remember the first time you heard this musical gem. At school? On the radio? In the car? At a concert? Probably not in a theater, because in the theater – as we found out – no one has ever presented the work in its entirety. Several creative personalities will work together on the performance of My Country (Má vlast). Where will their collaboration take them, and what unique moments will each of them experience individually on their journey through this exquisite musical narrative?

]]> The singer and actress Dáša Zázvůrková loves to sing the songs of Hana Hegerová. She often emphasizes that the famous Czech chanson-style singer was a woman who knew which way she wanted to go and which way not; a lady who carefully selected her repertoire and collaborators.

The program prepared specifically for the Smetana House in Litomyšl will be a musical tribute to Hana Hegerová. During the evening, Dáša Zázvůrková will also launch her new album, which she will present together with her secret guest.

The Kennedy Administration – a project founded by Ondřej Pivec, an organist and one of the few Czech Grammy Award winners – is a contemporary soul, funk, and R&B band known for its dynamic live performances and a fusion of classical and modern sounds.
