]]> Young dancers of the Bavarian Junior Ballet Munich present a project in which the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and Gustav Mahler meets contemporary dance. On the stage of the second castle courtyard, audiences will experience Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 3 choreographed by John Neumeier, Mahler’s cycle Songs of a Wayfarer choreographed by Jiří Kylián, and the more recent work In the Forest with music by French composer Camille Pépin, choreographed by Xin Peng Wang. Marco Goecke’s Devil’s Kitchen, which concludes the evening, is based on the music of the legendary band Pink Floyd. To their almost hypnotic rock sound, Goecke adds a language of movement through which the energy of the dance company interacts with songs such as Wish You Were Here or Dogs.

]]> The project is inspired by the cult novella by Richard Bach about Jonathan, the seagull who seeks not mere survival but the freedom of flight guided by his “inner compass” and self-knowledge. Dancers of the DEKKADANCERS company, actors Jiří Lábus and Vilém Udatný, and a chamber ensemble of members of the Czech Philharmonic, create an evening in which spoken word flows seamlessly into physical theater and live music composed by Ivan Acher. Directed and choreographed by three-time Thalia Award winner Ondřej Vinklát, the production uses the open space of the castle courtyard as a metaphor for free flight and builds on the motif of trusting the voice of one’s heart, which can carry us farther than we ever imagined.

]]> Fragility, passion, defiance: three faces of dance
This ballet evening explores femininity in all its dimensions – tender, fiery, rebellious, and powerful. It
opens with a duet using music from Stravinsky’s Firebird, choreographed by Marco Goecke – a meeting
of two shy creatures that sparks a relationship full of tension and yearning for closeness.
Next comes Šárka by Leya Bessoudo Greck, choreographed to Smetana’s symphonic poem of the same
name – a portrayal of resistance and desire for equality. The evening concludes with Jiří Pokorný’s
acclaimed Carmen – a thrilling story of passion, betrayal, and death in a modern industrial setting. The
love triangle of Carmen, José, and Lady M is an impressive finale to the program united by the theme of
inner strength and the struggle to become oneself.
