Mysterious Midsummer Night of magic, mysticism and reminders of the eternal link between man and nature in a vocal-instrumental composition by Jiří Pavlica.

One of the most magical times in the annual cycle is the summer solstice, to which many rituals have been linked that have endured for centuries. During the vigils, or night waking, you can immerse yourself deeper into the magical world of the rituals feeling more intensely their uniqueness, when the supernatural forces of Midsummer Night come alive and open gates to other worlds…”

And Love Again…

The premiere of a programme commissioned by the Smetana’s Litomyšl National Festival to commemorate the 100th anniversary of poet Jan Skácel’s birth. The libretto has been composed by Vojtěch Stříteský and Jiří Pavlica from poems and prose by Jan Skácel, and scriptural quotations. The timeless power and philosophical depth of the message is enhanced by the intention not to limit the theme to the affection between a man and a woman, but to expand it to include devotion to another person, to children, to life, to nature, to a thought, to one’s homeland and to God; in the spirit of St Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, “So now Faith, Hope, and Love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is Love.”
