Antonín Dvořák’s first song cycle was a confession of his great unfulfilled love for Josefína Čermáková; we are presenting it in a new version accompanied by a string quartet. In contrast, Brahms’ “Prater Quintet” is the work of a mature composer and can be heard in a variety of instrumentions; we are presenting a version with French horn.

“Cypresses? Think of a young man in love – that’s their content!”

Cypresses
a cycle of songs to the words of poems by Gustav Pfleger Moravský arranged for soprano and string quartet
1. Sing ye fervent songs
2. In the sweet power of your eyes
3. In so many a heart is dead
4. Oh, dear soul, the only one
5. Oh, it was a beautiful golden dream
6. I know that in sweet hope
7. Oh, golden rose, the golden rose
8. Oh, our love does not bloom
9. Round the house I stagger now
10. On the mountains silent
11. Here in the woods by the brook I stand
