programme

2.00pm / Smetana House – Whispers of the Soul
The Power of the Young Generation in Classical Music – MenART Academy at Smetana
House

What can music say without saying a word? Whispers of the Soul is
a concert that lets the strings of the violin, the sound of the trumpet and the piano melodies speak in their
purest form – with the energy and emotion that only young artists
on the threshold of their great musical journey can put into them.

The concert at the Smetana House will take you to the world of musical masterpieces by Bach, Smetana, Scriabin, Schubert, and others. These pieces will take on a new dimension in the hands of those who perform them not only with precision, but also with youthful boldness and heartfelt passion. Graduates of the MenART Academy will take the stage, having spent the past year honing their talents under the guidance of the esteemed mentors Ivo Kahánek, Karel Košárek, Svatopluk Zaal, and Jan Fišer.

Svatopluk Zaal and Jan Fišer will join their charges on stage and personally support them on their musical journey on this extraordinary day.

This concert is not a “classical” encounter with “classical” music – it is an encounter with a young generation that lives it to the full. Come and see what the future of classical music looks like in the hands of those who feel it and live it with every note, bringing it to vibrant life.

5.00pm / Chapter Church of the Rising of the Holy Cross – The Light Within Us
Let us look into the depths of the human soul together. This performance combines the power of live music and contemporary dance with the atmosphere of a sacred space in order to tell stories of longing, forgiveness, pain, and joy.

In the captivating atmosphere of the Church of the Raising of the Holy Cross, archetypal human destinies will come to life – confessions, prayers, and inner transformations, seeking a connection with something higher. The voices of the violin, cello, organ, flute, and singing will intertwine with the movements of the dancers to recount their story in a harmonious unity.

Step into a world where music, dance, and human stories find harmony and a common path to higher understanding, while honoring the atmosphere and legacy of the sacred space.

Under the choreographic and directorial supervision of Jan Kodet and Vendula Poznarová.

Performed by MenART graduates: Tobiáš Balkovský, Adéla Vrátilová, Adéla Řehořová, Viola Lukášová, Patrik Hradecký, and Kamila Štitinová.

Dance: Members of a dance ensemble led by teacher Naděžda Kabelová, from Vítězslav Novák Primary Art School in Jindřichův Hradec.

6.30pm and 7.30pm / Augusta’s Printing House – On the Road
Forget the traditional concert format. On the Road Not Taken will offer you an immersive
audiovisual experience. Here, music, light, projections and photography merge into one
stream that will set not only the space but also your imagination alight.

The opportunity will be taken up by Vladimír Slavíček, a talented young musician with a flair for improvisation and sonic experiment. Together with his peers, he draws loose inspiration from the works of the MenART photography section, presenting a bold visual and musical statement of the Generation Z. Dynamic light compositions, a fresh perspective on the world seen through the lenses of young photographers, and ambient-electro-acoustic experimental music invite you into a distinctive space, where reality dissolves into an artistic experience.

Musical concept: Vladimír Slavíček – keyboards, sound design, Střezina Primary Art School
