MENDEL MEGAKING, or When a Pea Starts Singing, is a family opera set in a primary school, connecting the world of eighth-graders Adam and Eve to the world of Gregor Mendel, the founder of genetics. Here, Mendel appears in the form of the school caretaker Jandl, marveling at the laws of genetics and of life itself.
Created in collaboration with the Znojmo Music Festival, the production of the opera is prepared by a team of students from the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts. Together with the composer and librettist Miloš Orson Štědroň, they promise a rewarding musical and theatrical experience.
