Vendulka and Lukáš are united in love. Smetana’s rural opera The Kiss portrays their pride, stubbornness, quarrels and misunderstandings that separate them for a brief time. It depicts both comic and touching scenes from village life, and concludes with a reconciliation and confirmation of the couple’s love by a kiss.
As part of the Smetana Litomyšl Opera Incubator project, The Kiss is transformed into a compelling experience in which gifted singers on the thresholds of their operatic careers are given an opportunity to perform. Under the direction of Jakub Klecker and Magdalena Švecová, these young artists will join forces on stage with the mixed choir KOS Litomyšl, an orchestra composed of students of JAMU, and members of the Czech Virtuosi.
