Empress Elisabeth of Austria, also known as “Sisi”, was the unconventional wife of Emperor Franz Joseph I. This spectacular musical treatment of the romantic yet tragic story of the imperial couple is set during the final decades of the Habsburg monarchy. The plot follows the life of the indomitable Elisabeth — from her youth and marriage, through her life at court, personal tragedies, to her assassination. The story reveals her longing for freedom and independence, her confrontation with the duties of royal life, and the inexorable fate that pursued her at every step.
This internationally successful musical by European authors, staged against the backdrop of Litomyšl Castle, promises a lavish spectacle. Under the direction of Jiří Nekvasil, the title roles will be performed by Natálie Tichánková, Patrik Vyskočil and Tomáš Savka together with the musical-theatre ensemble of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre. The orchestra of the musical is conducted by Marek Prášil, the author of the musical staging.
