The project is inspired by the cult novella by Richard Bach about Jonathan, the seagull who seeks not mere survival but the freedom of flight guided by his “inner compass” and self-knowledge. Dancers of the DEKKADANCERS company, actors Jiří Lábus and Vilém Udatný, and a chamber ensemble of members of the Czech Philharmonic, create an evening in which spoken word flows seamlessly into physical theater and live music composed by Ivan Acher. Directed and choreographed by three-time Thalia Award winner Ondřej Vinklát, the production uses the open space of the castle courtyard as a metaphor for free flight and builds on the motif of trusting the voice of one’s heart, which can carry us farther than we ever imagined.
