The Theatre of Light project transforms Baroque music and theatre into a vibrant operatic-dance spectacle created jointly by the ensembles Geisslers Hofcomoedianten and Musica Florea. Librettist and dramaturge Helena Koblischková and composer Jan Jirásek draw on Baroque motifs while translating them into a contemporary stage language in which music and stage action engage in a constant dialogue. Director Petr Hašek, long-time artistic director of Geisslers Hofcomoedianten, and conductor Marek Štryncl, founder of Musica Florea, build on their extensive experience in historically informed performance and Baroque gesture. Their collaboration gives rise to playful “New Baroque” in which light, music, and acting create a cohesive stage form.
