The Smetana M package offers 4 Smetana operas in a marathon of four consecutive evenings. The Moravian-Silesian National Theatre undertook the production of The Two Widows, The Brandenburger in Bohemia and The Devil’s Wall. The Czech Philharmonic with Jakub Hrůša and Kateřina Kněžíková will present a concert version of Libuše.

A comic opera of two acts to a libretto by Emanuel František Züngel.

The fifth opera was composed by Bedřich Smetana in 1873-74. The premiere took place at the Provisional Theatre just 150 years ago, on 27<sup>th</sup> March 1874 under the baton of the composer. The Two Widows was performed twice in the first opera year of Smetana's Litomyšl in 1949.

Historical opera of three acts, libretto by Karel Sabina.

Smetana's operatic debut from 1862-63 premiered at the Provisional Theatre on 5th January 1866. This production was staged at Smetana's Litomyšl on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the premiere on 18th June 2016.

Comic-romantic opera in three acts to a libretto by Eliška Krásnohorská.

The Devil's Wall is the last completed musical-dramatic work by the Litomyšl native. It premiered on 29th October 1882 at the Provisional Theatre under the baton of Adolf Čech and this production of the Moravian-Silesian National Theatre Ostrava was performed at Smetana's Litomyšl Festival also in the Year of Czech Music 2014.

The concert performance of Smetana's opera is the main and most festive point of the bicentenary of the birth of the founder of Czech classical music at the festival that bears his name. A production of an iconic opera specially for Smetana's birthplace.

The author composed the work as a historical tableau as early as 1872, but it was not premiered until the opening of the National Theatre on 11. June 1881.

Yes – each show has its own ticket. Donating package tickets to loved ones is possible, even desirable :-).
